Create a new document
New Document immediately creates a page that starts out untitled. If a document is already open, the new page is created in the same folder; from the home page, it's created at the top level.
- Open Knowledgebase and click New Document.
- Switch to edit mode via Edit.
- Replace the placeholder title with a meaningful name.
- Leave the title field to save the change.
Choose a folder via the document path
Below the title in edit mode, you'll find the path. Use slashes to set the folder structure, for example team/onboarding/first-day. Change the path and leave the field. The page moves to the new address. Then check its place in the sidebar. There's no separate folder picker dialog in this flow right now.
Format content with Markdown
Write directly in the editor. Markdown shortcuts turn into formatting as you type.
- Heading
- Type, for example, ## and a space at the start of a line.
- List
- Start a line with a hyphen and a space.
- Quote
- Start a line with > and a space.
- Code block
- Use three backticks to set code apart.
- Mention
- Type @ and pick a person from the member search.
Save and check changes
Content changes are saved automatically after a short pause in typing. Wait for the save indicator to finish before leaving the page. Use Done to switch back to reading view. Check headings, lists, and inserted content there.
Delete a document
The trash icon opens a confirmation. Check the selected path carefully: deleting through this UI also removes documents below that path. There's no restore feature in this flow.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my new document called Untitled Document at first?
The page is created immediately with a placeholder name. You set the title and path afterward in edit mode.
Why does an old document link stop working after moving it?
Changing the path changes the document's address. Update links pointing to the previous path.
Does / open a menu with formatting commands?
The current editor doesn't have such a picker built in. Use Markdown shortcuts as you write.
