Use Knowledgebase attachments and PDF export

Add files and images to documents so important material sits with the right topic. For a version you can pass along, you can download the open document as a PDF.

Prerequisites
  • You're signed in and have selected the organization you want.
  • The Knowledgebase module is available for your organization.

Attach files

The Attachments section appears under a saved document in your organization.

  1. Open the document you want.
  2. Expand Attachments below the content.
  3. Use the upload feature and choose the files you need.
  4. Wait for it to finish and check the file list. If there's an error, follow the shown message.

Download or remove attachments

In the file list, you'll find download and delete actions for each file. Downloading an attachment is independent of the document's PDF export. You need to confirm the delete prompt before removing an attachment.

Use images in the text

In edit mode, you can paste an image from the clipboard into the editor. It's uploaded and embedded in the document. Wait for the upload and save to finish before leaving the page. Use the document content for explanatory images, and the attachments area for additional material.

Download a document as PDF

The export creates a PDF of the currently open document.

  1. Wait until your changes are saved, and switch to reading view.
  2. Click the download icon labeled Download PDF at the top.
  3. Open the downloaded file and check the content and page breaks.
  4. Download any needed attachments separately if you want to pass them along with the PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Are attachments included in the exported PDF?

No. The export captures the title and the displayed document content. Separately attached files aren't embedded in the PDF.

Can I export an entire folder as a PDF?

The download action exports the currently open document. Open other documents individually if you need those too.

Why does the PDF have a dark background?

The export follows the current light/dark mode. Switch to light mode before exporting for a light PDF.
