Use and customize keyboard shortcuts in Project Manager

Keyboard shortcuts help you navigate Project Manager faster. You can bring up the overview at any time, set the second key of navigation shortcuts yourself, and change the key for creating a new task.

Prerequisites
  • You're signed in to Project Manager.

Open the keyboard shortcuts overview

  1. Open Account.
  2. In the Settings area, click Show next to Keyboard shortcuts.

Alternatively, press the ? key anywhere outside of input fields. Both ways open the same panel.

Open the command palette

Press Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on Mac) to open the command palette. There you search for sections and actions and jump straight to them. This shortcut is fixed.

Navigation shortcuts consist of two keys pressed one after another: first G, then, within about a second, the second key. By default:

  • G, D: Dashboard
  • G, T: Tasks
  • G, P: Projects
  • G, S: Sprints
  • G, C: Calendar
  • G, M: Metrics
  • G, R: Meetings
  • G, K: Knowledgebase

You can reach other sections via the sidebar or the command palette.

Create a new task with a keypress

Press N to open the task creation panel. Once saved, you'll see the Task created confirmation.

→ Create and manage tasks

Change a key

  1. Open the keyboard shortcuts overview.
  2. Click the key you want to change: the second key of a navigation shortcut, or the key for New task. The key now shows Press a key….
  3. Press the new key. Single characters like letters or digits are allowed, with no Ctrl, Alt, or ⌘.
  4. If the key is free, it's applied immediately. If it's already taken or reserved, Key already in use briefly appears and the previous assignment stays.
  5. Press Esc to cancel the entry.

The first key, G, and ?, are reserved and can't be changed. The key for New task and the second navigation keys also can't overlap.

Restore the default assignment

Click Reset at the bottom of the overview. Every key you customized returns to its default assignment.

When keyboard shortcuts don't respond

Keyboard shortcuts are disabled while you're typing in a text field, or a dialog is open. Close the field, or the panel, first.

Frequently asked questions

Are my changed keys the same on every device?

No. Custom assignments are only saved in that particular browser. Set them again as needed on a different device or in a different browser.

Can I also change the G key or the command palette shortcut?

No. You can customize the second key of navigation shortcuts and the key for a new task. The G key, the question mark, and Ctrl/⌘ + K are fixed.

Why does nothing happen when I press N?

Check whether you're currently typing in an input field, or a panel is open. In both cases, keyboard shortcuts are paused. The key might also have been set to a different value in the overview.
